As if that was not joyous enough… The day of my birthday my best pal Becca and I set off on a fun road trip to “Florida’s Forgotten Coast” We absolutely loved our time exploring local cuisine,  non-touristy destinations and fishing in St Joe Bay. In case you are not connected with me in social media land, I wanted to share a bit of my adventure with you! My Birthday Avoidance Vacation .. the easiest way to turn 30! from Melissa Walters on...

When is it time to take a sabbatical from facebook?
p><re-post from 12/30/12.. switched servers and lost content  > Have you ever, or have friends that deactivated their facebook accounts? Think they were melodramatic/crazy? Well, I am now one them. I love social media. It is how I make an income, teach others how to use it and profit from it and I am in awe of its sheer power to reach and engage people. So. from a business perspective, I could never leave it behind. But using it for personal networking, I”m just feeling burnt out by it. Have you ever felt that way? This season, more than any, makes me think about love and reflection. (specifically, God”s love for us, poured out through the birth of His...

Flat Tires, The Lake and The Lord…
p>  I wanted to share a little story about something that happened to me at the lake this weekend. It was hot, over 100 degrees.. HOT…and we were ready to enjoy a day of boating with family and friends to cool off. We pull into the marina to put the boat in the water, and while prepping the boat & waiting in line to unload, we hear the disappointing hissing of a tire, dying under the heat and pressure of the boat trailer. Great…the day ends before it begins… As I feel my dad’s blood pressure begin to rise as high as the searing sun pounding down on us, I begin to pray. Pray that it can be fixed, that my family would stay calm (we like to freak out) and...

Life after a divorce.. well, sort of….
p>After college, it began. An unhealthy relationship… with my career. An obsession, a distraction, an affair that took away for other parts of my life. If I was married, I was married to my job.   Scripture says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  My busy work days, long hours and obsession to learn was the center of my life— while trying to serve and love the Lord with whatever I had leftover to give.  I put my worth in my value to my employer and the “job well done.”  I loved my job and my job was my lover.   And then one day last spring, my lover left...

Where have you been… uh um, well, I’m not sure, but I don’t want to go back

Where have you been… uh um, well, I’m not sure, but I don’t want to go back
p>  - - I cannot believe it has been so long since I last posted.  Yikes! This is my promise that I am not dead. I don’t know where I have been exactly.  Lost in my head, in my feelings and unable to articulate them. (me, quiet, yes this is a new concept for most that “know” me)   Uninspired,  Complacent and just Surviving.  That is state in which I was in.   Blech.   Thank you Jesus, I feel alive again.   Transitions:  Moving to a new area & living alone for the first time makes you come head on with the quiet and uncomfortable. Quiet time to listen to your fears and wade through the junk I kept myself too distracted to...
